Taking Body Measurements Vertical

B waist measure the waist where the body bends. Arms chest waist hips and legs. Here are some tips for taking accurate measurements. Then the horizontal measurements. Donot take this too tight. When taking these measurements use a cloth tape measure not a metal one.

There are several parts of the body to be measured. Measurement is taken from the tip of the left shoulder to the tip of the right shoulder arching slightly to cover the cervical prominence of the neck bone. The best way to do this is to place the camera about 4 5 meters from you at mid body level. Make sure that when you circle your chest waist or hips the tape is level and neither too tight nor too loose. If this isnt possible take the measurements yourself in front of a mirror for better visibility. These are taken in.

You will want to use a soft cloth or flexible plasticrubber tape measure such as is used in sewing. When taking body measurements you need to use the correct type of tape measure. Also measure yourself on your bare skin not over clothes. Your natural waist will be between your belly button and your rib cage usually your natural waist is in line with your elbows. After you complete this stage you will be able to decide what to wear to create a balanced look even if your body isnt balanced. To make sure the tape is positioned correctly ideally get someone else to take the measurements for you.

Any other position can and will cause distortion in your body proportions and make some parts of your body look longer or shorter. Measure loosely around your natural waist. Measure both sides of the body to accurately track progress and symmetry. And dont forget to weigh yourself each time you take your measurements. Measure the fullest part of your hips and back side making sure to keep the tape is one again level and loose. Measure all around the body total circumference.

Consistency is key so make sure youre taking your measurements the same way each time. It is in this order for the vertical measurements i assume 1 body length. There are five key areas of your body you should measure. 3 shoulder to shoulder length. Vertical body type body proportions now after you already know your horizontal body type lets assess your vertical body proportions. This simply means that you can determine whether you are short waisted long waisted short legged long legged or balanced.

How to measure your arms. You can put an elastic band around the waist to mark the correct placement. Do not use a metal measuring tape such as is used in construction it will be inaccurate. It helps to bend side to side to identify exactly where to measure. To determine your vertical body proportions take a picture of yourself in your undergarments. The horizontal measurement is taken from the left of the figure to the right.

Neck round measure around the base of the neck slightly loose. And this may sound silly but dont trust your memory be sure to write the measurements down.
